I think it’s more “cut” than “haircut” or, rather, “the (act of) cutting off”.
The English term appears to be “haircut”; don’t ask me why!
Indeed-e-o. These finance guys use weird words, such as “thought leadership”; you should do a WOTD on THAT one. But I guess it doesn’t matter what the jargon is, as long as the money that you make off the transaction is right.
